I know I’ve been awol, distracted by the weather and another hedonistic tangent. But, I’m back, ad hoc and with artistic intent. Anyway, did this one a while ago for a friend. Those of you with a penchant for Korean history might understand the relevance/significance. Not quite the history buff myself, I can still appreciate the idea here. So…
The mock-up, followed by the execution.

Work in progress.

The completed design.

Hopefully, I’ll be posting more within the upcoming weeks. In the meantime, for those about to rock, I salute you-
* The ring finger was cut off deliberately.

i wonder if the fourth finger purposefully short?
sheesh. your korean writing is better than mine.
You have been missed! I don’t like tattoos but this one’s nice… simple yet it appears to have a deeper meaning, unlike a common dragon or snake tattoos which often times irks me a lot.
glad to see you’re back in the game.. hope all’s well

so…people actually say it ..’dae han gook in’ instead of just’ hang gook in’ ? o_O
ohh. you wanted to mean …’korean’ right..?hmm..
David I love the self portrait!!!
hey dave. long time no see.
that’s a famous hand print of Korean freedom fighter ‘Ahn Joong Geun’ who fought against Japan in early 1900′s… he was eventually captured by Japanese soldiers and was executed. he cut off his finger to write the word “Korea” and his final words in blood before he died.
the direct translation of that word in picture is “Great Korean”
amiable82, he got it right. Dae Han Guk In is often used to refer to Ahn Joong Geun.
